I have grown out my natural gray hair which is chestnut brown with scattered gray throughout. Most of my gray is by my sideburns and temple area. I use this product to blend in the grays in the front. I feel it balances out the way my hair looks. I still have the gray but I can pull it back and have it a bit darker in the front.
Overall, I absolutely love this New Root Erase product! It’s incredibly fast and efficient, and it’s especially convenient that it seals the remaining colorant so it can be used multiple times. Not only does it cover gray hair, but it also darkens lighter hair in a natural-looking way that blends perfectly with your existing hair color. The end result is so seamless, it looks like your hair has grown out naturally. Best of all, it doesn’t damage my hair the way other “permanent coloring” boxed products tend to. I use this product mostly on the front side area of my hair. While stubborn grays may require a bit more time to cover, a second application is usually all it takes. In between applications, I use WOW root cover powder, which even stays put when I swim until I shampoo it out.
I’ve been using this Root Erase product for a couple of years now, and it’s definitely the best hair color product I’ve ever tried. The package is perfectly designed for convenience, and it’s great to know that Revlon, the company behind the product, has been committed to cruelty-free practices since the early 2000s. If I’m highlighting my hair, I use two different colors, spaced out over a couple of days. While it’s common for the color to run out before the developer, I’ve found that mixing the remaining developer with baking soda is a great way to lighten the color around my face. If it’s too light, I use Biotin Shampoo to tone down any brassiness.
Sometimes, I’ll also use the blonde Root Touch-up to darken my hair a bit, leaving it on for about 10 minutes. As my roots grow out, my hair color transitions from dark to light, giving me a natural-looking, beachy vibe that makes me feel forever young. The only downside is that it’s been a bit difficult to find lately, and I hope it never gets discontinued!
